'Métis Bear' painted by Agnes Jorgensen in 2006, and sponsored by the Manitoba Métis Federation for CancerCare.
It's located on Main Street in front of the Pantages Theatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.

As reported in the Winnipeg Free Press Saturday May 21, 2005:

"Bears on Broadway"

There will be more bears than bulls in one of Winnipeg's financial districts -- at least this summer.

And it means you won't have to go to Churchill to see polar bears for the next few months. Sixty-two of them will be coming out of hibernation soon, and they'll be available for viewing on Broadway, in the heart of the city.

But unlike their northern cousins, these polar bears are made out of cement, are hollow and weigh 3,600 kilograms apiece.

And instead of being painted only white, these statues have been decked out in many colours by some of the province's leading artists.

The event, dubbed Bears on Broadway, is designed to raise awareness -- and funds -- for cancer research. It has been organized by the CancerCare Manitoba........ (balance edited by webmaster)
